Clotilde Nougaret's Visit with Roger McGowen
December 20, 2007 - Visiting from France

On the 20th , I went to the Allan Polunsky Unit at 8 in the morning. At the front desk I met Kathy Cox. She comes almost every day to see the prisoners in the death row. She stays there from 8 am to 5 pm. She helped me to find my way and to understand how the visitors' room is working.

The visiting area guard was very nice. Roger came nearly one hour and a half later because they forgot to call him!! What joyful it was to meet each other! Roger was very well. We talked about lots of things, and laughed a lot. It was really a great time. My poor English was not a big problem; Roger was speaking slowly and listening leniently.

From their little cages the prisoners can't see much, but they are used to listening to everything and to have a look around very carefully. So they notice a lot of things around them. Roger saw his lawyer and understood that he will have also his visit. He was very happy. The 4 visiting hours went off very quickly.

I saw Tony Haughton at the gate, and we could exchange few words. I had a good feeling with him. He had come to say Merry Christmas to Roger, and to announce some good news about the legal situation. It was a nice Christmas gift for Roger!
